Books on Wheels
Mary Slayton, Coordinator
Books on Wheels (B.O.W) is a free outreach program for residents in senior housing facilities within Terrell city limits. Patrons will take part in a one-on-one interview with the coordinator to determine their reading preferences. The coordinator will then hand pick items based on those preferences. Library materials are delivered directly to guests’ rooms every other week and include books, with a large print option, audiobooks, DVDs/Blu-Ray, and magazines.
The coordinator keeps a detailed reading history for each patron to ensure they are getting the desired materials and duplication of items does not take place unless requested.
An adult story time is held at most facilities and attendees do not have to be in the B.O.W. program to attend.
Facilities currently being serviced through the B.O.W. program are Terrell Senior Terraces, Country View Nursing and Rehabilitation, Colonial Lodge Assisted Living, Windsor Care Center, Superior Day Care, and Rosehaven Assisted Living.
For information on how to sign up for the B.O.W. program contact the coordinator at [email protected].
