Land acquisitions includes all land and property acquisition interests needed for public use. This includes, but is not limited to acquiring land and property interests for the City of Terrell as it relates to capital improvement projects through offers, negotiations, and administrative processes.
The City of Terrell also provides necessary acquisition and coordination services for implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, Adopted Park and Thoroughfare Plans, as well as intergovernmental projects with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot), North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and Kaufman County.
The City of Terrell is dedicated to the transparency of the land acquisition process and ensures all City and State laws and regulations are followed through the process. City staff ensures that all legal requirements are met following Texas Local Government Code 273.
Any time a landowner is impacted, the City will contact the landowner directly and start the right-of-way acquisition process which will include providing the owner with the following documents:
- Landowner’s Bill of Rights (English and Spanish)
- Draft Deed Language
- Survey Information
- Copy of CERTIFIED Appraisal
- Informative Cover Letter
- Map of Project
